- NETjobs is a platform for employers to provide job and employment information for recruitment purposes, and for eligible students and graduates of HKU to explore potential career opportunities and seek employment. All users of NETjobs are expected to provide accurate and complete information as well as uphold principles of personal data protection and equal opportunities.
- All users of NETjobs should only use the platform and its contents for lawful purposes. They should not use the platform to transmit, distribute or store materials in violation of any applicable law or regulation, or in any manner that will infringe the copyright, trademark, trade secrets or other intellectual property rights of others or violate the privacy or publicity or other personal rights of others, or that is libelous, obscene, threatening, abusive or hateful.
- The graphics, images, editorial content, HTML and all information posted on NETjobs are the intellectual property of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (“CEDARS”). They are protected by copyright and trademark laws and may not be downloaded or otherwise duplicated. Re-use of the foregoing is strictly prohibited and CEDARS reserves all rights.
- Violating or attempting to violate the security of the platform, accessing data without proper authorisation, or reproducing the information on any other platforms (online or offline) in any forms (as-is or amended) is strictly prohibited. Users profiting in monetary terms (including as hired contractor or employee on a full-time, part-time or freelance basis) in any means or manners including providing information on NETjobs to third parties, or extracting information from NETjobs for commercial purposes would be subject to legal actions. Violations of system or network security may result in civil and/or criminal liabilities.
- To the fullest permitted by law, CEDARS makes no warranty, representation or undertaking (whether express or implied) about the accuracy, reliability, completeness, timeliness, suitability, merchantability, non-infringement of third party rights, fitness for any or a particular purpose or use of the platform and its contents. It does not warrant that the platform will operate error-free or free of viruses or other harmful mechanisms, and will not be liable in any event for any losses or damages suffered by any users whatsoever directly or indirectly arising or resulting from using or inability to use the platform and its contents. If use of the platform or the contents results in the needs for servicing or replacing equipment, server or data, by any user, CEDARS should not be held liable or responsible for those costs or damages of whatsoever nature
- CEDARS has full jurisdiction over the admission of users and any other matters related to NETjobs, and reserves the right to refuse any request for displaying recruitment information on NETjobs and deny or terminate any services to any users in case of any actual or potential breach of the terms and conditions and guidelines, determined at the sole and absolute discretion of CEDARS.
- The employer shall provide a designated primary office location for the employees, ensuring that the working environment is fair, safe, and supportive at all times, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. The primary office must be a legitimate part of the employer’s daily operation. That is, the use of residential address, a company secretary office or a virtual office is not permitted for the employment.
- The job advertisement must be for positions directly hired by the employer or recruited through an officially appointed agency authorised by the employer.
- The employer shall ensure that the employees have the legal right to work as Graduate, Summer, Internship, Temporary, Part-time, or Full-time, facilitating employees in entry visa and employment arrangements during their study programme where necessary.
- The employer must undertake all legal responsibilities as an employer under the Minimum Wage Ordinance, the Employment Ordinance, the Employee’s Compensation Ordinance, Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance and other applicable ordinances.
- The employer has to guarantee that the student recruited for the post would come under the protection of the Employment Ordinance as an employee. In addition, the employer must also ensure that the information provided during the application is true, correct and based solely on genuine recruitment needs, and the terms of employment as well as job descriptions, etc. are consistent with the actual employment offer.
- When the employer collects personal data from job applicants (e.g., CV and application forms), they should observe the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, and provide the contact person’s name and contact means for job applicants to obtain Personal Information Collection Statement.
- The terms of employment, entry requirements and job descriptions of the job post must not violate the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance. The employer should consider the genuine job requirements of the post and follow the relevant codes of practice against discrimination in employment. Please do not specify any requirements on gender, age or race of the job applicants or any other discriminatory terms. Otherwise, we will not accept the application or your account will be disabled.
- The employer must not solicit money or other advantages in any form or under any title, no matter for reasons of provision of services or training, selling of goods, referral of service, guarantee deposit and so on from job applicants. We will not process or display any vacancy orders which involve pre-employment or paid training.
- HKU, or any authorised person acting on its behalf, reserves the right to conduct random checks of the documents and records of the employer to ensure compliance with the guidelines and requirements of CEDARS. In the event of any non-compliance, HKU reserves the right to take necessary actions, which may include but are not limited to revoking an approved participation in the system.
- 16. Employers shall indemnify and hold harmless the University of Hong Kong (HKU), its directors, officers, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to any breach of this Terms and Conditions, any negligence, misconduct, or misrepresentation by the Employers in the process of recruiting for and carrying out the job placement, or any violation of any applicable laws or regulations. This indemnification obligation will survive the termination of the NETjobs account.
- The employer shall conform in all respects with all legislation (including the Law of the People’s Republic of China on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region), regulations and by-laws of any applicable jurisdiction in carrying out the internship duties or the related activities.
